In a brazen example that the Grinch works all year long and not just around Christmas, the folks at the Exceeding Expectations Foundation in San Bernardino, CA had approximately 35 bikes and other equipment stolen out of their bike trailer last weekend.
If you’re not familiar with this group – its an organization headed by Cherie Gruenfeld – Ironman Triathlon age group World Champion (including making the cover of the Wheaties cereal box). The program takes a-risk kids from San Bernardino and the the surrounding communities and teaches them self-confidence, problem-solving, self-disciplince and determination through their introduction to triathlons. The first group have gone on to graduate from high school and enter college, despite a school system that has close to a 50% drop out rate for at-risk students.
